BHRS Council Elections

British Heart Rhythm Society (BHRS) is looking to recruit new Doctor & Nurse representatives. The following positions on Council fall vacant:

  • 3 x Doctor representatives

  • 1 x Nursing representative

If you feel you would like to contribute to the running of your Society, please apply to become a member of Council. This is your opportunity to help shape how BHRS develops whilst gaining excellent experience of becoming involved with influencing national policy and gaining a better understanding of national arrhythmia services.

All posts have a tenure of three years and are renewable for a second term after successful re-election. The Constitution does allow past Council members to apply for these posts.

The deadline for nomination will be 3rd August.  Voting will commence on 10th August.

  • The successfully elected candidates will officially join BHRS Council at the first council meeting after the elections. This will be around the time of the now virtual Heart Rhythm Congress (HRC) meeting. This council meeting will be via Zoom.

  • Council work is fulfilling but you should expect to work additional hours to promote the efforts of BHRS!

We welcome interest from anyone who is a current BHRS Ordinary Member and would like to join Council.

What Council Work Involves…

Council meets five to six times per year.  Presently, meetings are held via Zoom. Any face to face meetings are usually held at the BCS offices in London.

All council members are expected to attend a minimum of two meetings per year.

In addition to the responsibilities of the position, members of Council automatically become Trustees of BHRS, a Registered Charity and must accept the responsibilities associated with that position. It is advised that all nominees acquaint themselves with these responsibilities; a summary entitled ‘The Essential Trustee: What you need to know’, this can be downloaded from the Charity Commission website at the following link:
