There is an exciting opportunity for you to become a part of the newly established BHRS Education Committee. If you are interested in helping to develop a BHRS cardiac rhythm education programme then we’d love you to apply to become part of this new committee.

The proposed BHRS Education Committee will be expected to meet regularly to develop a structured programme of educational material that will provide education for all BHRS members. The education programme should provide education opportunities for its members to ensure they are supported and educated to deliver the best care possible for rhythm management patients.

The education committee’s role will include the composition of:

  • Symbiotic training sessions

  • Examination preparation courses

  • Quarterly webinars

  • Online (EGMs/case studies)

  • Educational meetings

Cardiac rhythm management is constantly evolving…

Guidelines and protocols are continually being updated and key studies are being published.  BHRS wishes to develop a structured committee to write a programme of education for BHRS members. The BHRS is committed to communicating and educating its members of the latest rhythm management updates.  The education programme should empower its members to ensure they are supported and educated to deliver best care possible for rhythm management patients.

The BHRS committee members will consist of physicians, trainees, physiologists / scientists, nurses and the BHRS events co-ordinator. The intention of the committee is to ensure all disciplines have equitable access to rhythm management education to support CPD and provide appropriate services to the rhythm manage patients.

The Education Committee will consist of the following membership: 4 physicians, 4 physiologists/scientists, 2 arrhythmia nurses, 1 cardiology trainee. The BHRS events co-ordinator will also attend.

The committee would meet 4 times per year (with one meeting being potentially face to face).

Exam Committee Job Description

The proposed BHRS Education Committee will be expected to meet regularly to develop a structured programme of educational material that will provide education for all BHRS members. The education programme should provide education opportunities for its members to ensure they are supported and educated to deliver the best care possible for rhythm management patients.

It is expected the BHRS Education Committee members will continue to develop the existing BHRS webinar programme, with the intention of delivering a webinar every quarter.

The BHRS Education Committee will engage with the BHRS Exam Committee to develop a BHRS exam preparation course that is delivered at a timely interval in advance of the BHRS exam dates, (this is to include all exams, (devices, EP and clinical).

The BHRS Education Committee will develop new approaches to the current style of conventional training, including symbiotic training.

The BHRS Education Committee members will ensure the existing online EGMs / case studies are continued to be published at regular intervals via the appropriate communication platforms.

The BHRS Education Committee members will be expected to have a level of understanding of the current rhythm management relevant curriculum.

The Education Committee will be supported by the BHRS Events coordinator to ensure the education content is appropriately distributed to all BHRS members.

Terms of Reference

  1. The Education Committee will consist of the following membership: 4 physicians, 4 physiologists/scientists, 2 arrhythmia nurses, 1 cardiology trainee. The BHRS events co-ordinator will also attend
  2. Members of the Education Committee will be formally recorded in the Council minutes, including members who step down and replacement throughout the year. Members will serve for a period of 3 years renewable (still formally recorded) for a further 3 years.
  3. It will have a Chair and Vice Chair who shall be drawn from 2 different disciplines. All positions are open to all BHRS members. We encourage the committee to stagger the roles of Chair and Vice Chair with the hope that one can replace the other after 3 years in post.
  4. The Education Committee will formally report to BHRS Council with a dedicated slot on the agenda via the Chair and in their absence, via the Vice Chair. These members will be co-opted onto Council.
  5. A minimum of 5 people from at least 2 different disciplines will constitute a quorum.
  6. The Education Committee will meet at least quarterly, with the expectation that this may be more frequent at the offset. It is expected the members of the Education Committee attend a minimum of 2 meetings per year
  7. Members of the Education Committee cannot serve on the Exam Committee simultaneously.
  8. Members will serve for a period of 3 years renewable for a further 3 years.
  9. Selection for the Education Committee will be via advertisement via e-mail to all members and via social media inviting expressions of interest. In the event of a surfeit of interested candidates and interview process will take place involving the Chair and Vice Chair.
  10. Committee members will be able to claim back reasonable expenses for travel etc., using the appropriate expenses form and receipts.
