National Cardiac Audit Programme (NCAP)

April 2021 – March 2022

Time is of the essence: delays and waits need urgent action.

This is the most recent NICOR report for Cardiac Rhythm Management. It covers the 12 months from 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022. After the devastating impact of COVID-19 there are signs of recovery, although those are not complete, and certainly not enough to catch up with the waiting lists that developed in 2020. Whereas Device activity largely recovered to pre-pandemic levels during this period, ablation numbers did not in most regions of the country. The report cannot, however, explain the reasons for this. There remains an imbalance in provision of services across the country, and concern about the impact the pandemic has had on training.
